SUPPORT FOR OUR FRONTLINE HEROES
Help the Helpers is a bunch of volunteers dedicated to meeting the needs of heroes who are risking their own lives to save ours. Because they DESERVE it. And for now, we are making facemasks to help those who are on the front lines battling the Coronavirus.
It is recommended that medical professionals wear N95 masks for protection, however, due to a national shortage, N95 masks are increasingly more difficult to procure.
HOW TO HELP:
1) GIVE your masks.
If you have N95 masks, please donate them to your local hospital. These may be lying around in your garage or under your sink. These masks are like gold right now and people truly need them to save lives.
2) MAKE a mask.
If you don't have those bad boys lying around, we are asking for your help to make The Shirt Mask and The Sheet Mask with items you have in your home. They may be used as a back-up, as hand-outs for patients who are in the waiting room who are going home, or however hospitals see fit. We are currently showing how to make 2 face masks. One is constructed with t-shirts and one with bedsheets.
3) BUY stuff to make a mask.
If you want to help, but don't have an extra mask to give and you aren't able to make one, you can support our Seamsters by purchasing materials that are needed to make masks. Simply visit our Amazon Wish List to find the products Help the Helpers currently needs. If you are purchasing fabric, be sure that you choose a 100% cotton option. Shipping information is pre-filled in the wish list.
2. WHERE TO TAKE THEM
We are currently securing hospital partners. If your hospital is interested in being listed as a dropoff location, please email us at email@example.com.
If you live in Jefferson City, MO, we have partnered with Capital Region Medical Center.
Donations of needed supplies and homemade masks can be dropped off at Capital Region at the supply chain dock. This dock is located in the breezeway under the hospital. To enter the breezeway, turn from Stadium Blvd. onto Monroe toward the hospital. Turn into the first driveway on your left, then make an immediate right to enter the “tunnel” under the hospital. Follow the drive (be careful – there are speed bumps) until you get to almost the end. A “Receiving” sign and dock area will be on your right. There will be labeled bins placed outside doors where you can drop your donations. Please place homemade masks in plastic bags, preferably sealed, to protect them.
8 AM - 4 PM • Mon-Fri (These days are subject to change.)
IF YOU MAKE A MASK PLEASE TELL US:
1) WHO YOU ARE
2) WHERE YOU LIVE
3) HOW MANY MASKS YOU MADE
